Lions, Tigers & Bears! Oh My!

Camping, Hunting & Memory Lane

Brandon'd Grandpa use to work at this old gold mine we went to go visit. Also this cabin Brandon use to come there as a kid with his family. It was fun to go exploring!

Brandon and I went camping which I thought I heard noises all night. Brandon has this Elmer fudd hat ( ya know the guy who shoot bugs bunny) Well anyways I sleep like a rock (9am) until I got hot in the tent & took the hat off and started hearing noises outside. I thought there were badgers or something getting into our trash from dinner. I made Brandon wake up and take his 22 gun and shoot it outside. I told him to NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE OPEN THE DOOR!! That I would be okay if he shot through the tent...I didn't want to get eaten! I heard howling. Okay we were out where people go hunting...aka where "animals" ARE! Brandon amuses me and opens the bottom of the tent and shoots it a few times and I think I hear all the noises stop. Then a few hours later after I fall back asleep with the hat back on at 1 am after its all over. It was ONLY 1 am I could hardly believe it!! I knew it would be a LONG freaking night! (I'm sure Brandon thought it would be an even LONGER night seeing how things were going!) So then 5 am rolls around and I get hot and take off the hat again....yes I start hearing noises again! The hat was so big and made of real thick fur I couldn't hear anything with it on. Well then I see a BIG shadow. We had a propane heater on the far side of the tent and it was making shadows & a bit of noise plus there was a bit of wind. ( I think?) I thought I saw a BEAR shadow and I thought that it brushed up against the tent. I'm not kidding I was paralyzed I couldn't move. I could hardly BREATH! I tried to wake up Brandon but I couldn't move! It felt like a dream where you can't scream or run away even though as much as you try you cant! Then I managed to whisper a few words.
Brandon kept asking, what? WHAT?  WHAT???

Oh my GOSH Brandon the bear is going to hear us!!! Then he said he had to go pee and started to leave the tent. I was begging him, pleading him not to leave because he would get EATEN! I was near TEARS! Anyways while he was out there he looked around with the flash light and said everything was fine. So I had to go the the bathroom too! BAD! Relieved that everything was okay but partially thinking I was mental because nothing got into our trash or anything it all looked fine! (okay we ate steak for dinner my mind went wild!) In the morning Brandon said....So I'm guessing you're more of a motel 8 camping kind of girl, huh? haha it was pretty crazy! Poor Brandon he didn't get much sleep that weekend!

Hocus Pocus

Happy Halloween! Brandon and I didn't really have a ton planned for Halloween. Earlier that day I helped Paige pack and move up north. Thinking about it now I should have been sabotaging to helping the leave! We are so sad they left! We finally found a fun couple friend and they leave us!

I know we are already an old married couple doing nothing for Halloween. But, I had a bag of random halloween clothes so Paige and I dug through there and picked out an outfit. I was some dutch dorothy girl? Brandon was Nolan Ryan.

Funny Story about Brandon's Ryan jersey though. Brandon was wearing that at Harmon's grocery store when my Mom saw him there and started to walk up to him to say hi. Then she saw the back of his jersey and it said, "RYAN". She called me up not sure if that really was Brandon and if it was "Why was he wearing 'Ryan's' shirt?" I wasn't sure at first I found it weird then I realized ohhh its a professional athlete. Wow you can tell we come from a family that doesn't watch sports! haha Blonde Moment!

Brandon took me to Tuachan's Thriller. It was tradition from when we first started dating. It was great! They changed the program so it was fun to see the changes and new dances.

Haunted Corn Maze!

For Halloween we went to Stahlei Farms with family! It was fun to get together with myfamily & Brandon's sister Paige and her family.

On the ride to the haunted corn maze!

Brandon & Adyson our niece playing with her and all the animals in the petting Zoo. What a good Uncle!

I have no idea what's around my head and what that is suppose to be?

When Adyson heard the music from the little teenager dance that had started she LOVED the music and started dancing. So of course I danced with her! She was really cute! I think I know what Paige needs to sign this girl up for!

New Heart for Dad

51 years young and had to have a Quintuple By Pass Surgery
The doctor contributed it to family genetics. He said people could smoke, not exercise and eat horribly and never get heart disease. Same with the alternative. You could eat health, run marathons and not smoke and still get it. The main contributor = FAMILY GENES
So I guess I inherited more than just my good looks from my Family?
This past week has been a roller coaster for our family. Dad had a quintuple by pass surgery. He spent over a week in the hospital having tests done and being poked and prodded all night and day. He was relieved to get some sleep once we took him home!
They had to use a different leg vein for is operation so he had two incisions on each leg. An incision on his lower left abdomen right above his pelvic bone they used his major artery to perform two stents prior to the operation. But when the dye was administered and they looked at the condition of the arteries they decided open heart surgery was a much better choice for a longer and better quality of life. I'm not so sure Dad thought the same. To go through this surgery has been as much physically as emotionally challenging to swallow.
Dad's Battle Wound
When he came out of the ICU there were 3 tubes in his mouth, 1 tube in his neck, 2 tubes in his chest and 2 wires in his chest as well. They had put more IV's in his veins and arteries before surgery.
These photos were taken shortly after leaving the ICU. You can see the bandage on his neck were they removed the tube from his neck. He said that hurt worse than his chest after surgery. It was as deep in as the length as a pencil but thicker in diameter! They didnt take out the chest tubes or wires until the day he left. Hey had them in there in monitor and control his heart rate and drain the 20 pounds of fluids they pumped into him during surgery. Taking them out they said would be painful and feel like someone punched you in the chest hard. One of the wires on his chest had claws on the end and Dad said it was the weirdest feeling. They are attached to the heart and he could feel them pull off the heart and scratch the whole way out.

Just yesterday my Dad went back to the hospital to talk with another man that he knew from their ward who just had a heart attack and was going to be going through the same thing. My Dad went into talk to him and give him encouragement. Its a hard thing to go through we are glad my Father can be of comfort to those in need.

We had Dr. Millar and Dr. Woodbury to perform the surgery along with 7 specialist
Here is an article about his doctors and a photo of them performing a heart surgery together. Much like the one Dad went through.

Taking Dad Home!!!
Anytime Dad sits up, walks, or adjusts he has to hold his heart pillow. He could ripe open his chest and be back into the hospital if he puts more than ten pounds of weight on his arms. If you haven't noticed my Dad is a GORILLA! He has very manly arms. Its one thing the Doctor said would be hard for him during recovery. He has to do this for the next SIX WEEKS! As you can see he is wearing ted hose to prevent a blood clot from the surgery. We are glad he is home!

He is already back to work!
While my Dad was in the hospital he bought and sold hay.  One of the many things I have admired about my Dad was what a hard working Father he has always been. It is something that I looked for while dating and found in my husband too.

...let the 6 weeks recovery begin!

Much Needed VACA!

VACATION LAKE POWELL!
Brandon and I went to Lake Powell with some of Brandon's family. We stayed on a house boat which was great when it got hot outside they had A/C which I have never loved so much in my life! Brandon and I of course got a great sun burn not so much tan but hey beggars can't be choosers! We wore lots of sunscreen but there is no winning in Southern Utah. Brandon went wake boarding and he learned how to surf behind the boat it was awesome! It was beautiful down there.

When we first started fishing there were little kids chumming the water throwing in food and they easily caught a carp fish. Brandon was about 100 yards away and we couldn't catch one to save our life! Luckily the next day we were able to catch one that night and then lots the day after that when it started raining. I almost had given up! Luckily I had a good book! I like a little more action and I had to cast out my pole until it got caught and broke off. I am so glad I have a patient and loving husband!
This sand hill we climbed all the way to the top. Talk about a good work out! Running down it was so much fun it felt weird to slide and bounce down. Afterwards we all went swimming. I have never felt water so warm! In this photo on the tube is Skyler, Tyson and Skyler's friend.
Brandon and I stopped at the grocery store before heading out to the boat and I found this cake there. Really? Who would want to eat a CAKE that looks like a BURGER? Polar Opposites! This is so funny!
The night we came home Brandon made me banana crepes! Yum! It tasted great & I always appreciate and love it when he makes me dinner.
Brandon Price, the Farmer's Insurance guy right next to Grease Monkey was moving and they were getting rid of this table. I was AMAZED! What a blessing!! I just got called to Friendship Committee and I am suppose to set up dinner dates with couples in the ward. Only problem we didn't have a table but I figured we would figure something out. That's when a week later we got this. FOR FREE! What a beautiful wood table, in great condition too. It also came with an insert as well! We were glad to have such good friends!
